An Act of Service

Description:

An Act of Service investigates the stigmas surrounding mental health in the conservative, masculine culture of the fire service. The documentary follows Rob’s journey with PTSD after experiencing a series of traumatic events at work, and his decision to undergo ketamine-assisted psychotherapy—a relatively new form of treatment. Over the course of several weeks, Rob works with a psychologist while receiving ketamine infusions to address the root of his trauma. The film captures his struggles with opening up to peers, initiating difficult conversations, and nurturing a closer relationship with his daughter Keylie.
